Rasmussen History
Don Rasmussen Company was established in 1950 with the
Rasmussen Studebaker dealership on West Burnside in
Portland, Oregon. As the popularity of Studebaker began
to wane in the late 1950's, Don Rasmussen, Sr.
demonstrated keen foresight and set a precedent in the
American automotive world by establishing the first Mercedes-Benz
dealership in the U.S. in 1957. Don Rasmussen
Company continues to represent Mercedes-Benz today
as Mercedes-Benz of Portland and Mercedes-Benz of
Wilsonville.
Aware of the growing interest in European automobiles in the 1960's,
Rasmussen added Volvo and Peugeot to his inventory before dropping
them in favor of BMW in 1971. With the addition of Don Rasmussen
Company’s Land Rover Portland, driving enthusiasts from all over Oregon
and Southwest Washington could select from three of the finest, most reputable
auto makers in the world. In 2001, with BMW's acquisition of MINI,
Rasmussen was selected to operate Oregon's only MINI dealership, Rasmussen MINI.
In addition to dealing exclusively in only the
finest automobiles available today, Rasmussen's commitment to quality is also reflected in the high professional standards
demanded from employees. By consistently providing thorough, attentive, and responsive customer service, Rasmussen sales
and service advisors have garnered numerous awards, both for themselves as individuals and for the dealerships. Most importantly,
they have earned the continued trust of numerous repeat customers.
